Karlton is ready to #MixItUp

As I’m sure you already know, we’re serious dog people. We have four pups in our house and there’s never a dull moment. I’m slowly introducing our furry side of the family to you as the occasion arises. Meet Karlton, our five year old Miniature Pinscher rescue. After DNA testing him, we discovered that he’s actually a Miniature Pinscher / Lhasa Apso mix, purebred on both sides so he’s a smidge bigger/taller than most purebred MinPins.Meet Karlton - The Art of Better (2)

We’ve had him for a few years now and, as he’s begun to age, we’ve noticed his coat has dulled some. We’ve also noticed some dry skin on his elbows & knees, especially this winter as it’s gotten cold. He is the oldest of our dogs so it seems the aging symptoms are hitting him first.

Typically, we feed our pups a high quality, natural, grain-free dry food 2x daily with some puréed pumpkin on top in the morning to give them a fiber & moisture boost for the day. Dinner is usually plain, dry kibble.

Since we are always on the lookout for the best for our furbabies, we were really excited to learn about a new mixer out in the marketplace. We’re very happy with the food we feed them and didn’t want to change that, so we think this is the perfect topper for their food in the PM.

Instinct® Raw Boost® Mixers is just one of those well made products that we feel comfortable giving to our dogs. Again, being those crazy dog people, we actually research into the ingredients of anything we feed our dogs. . . sometimes more than what we feed ourselves!

Anyway, here’s why we’re excited to try Instinct Raw Boost Mixers:

  1. It’s a grain-free and raw freeze-dried topper that can go with any food. Like I said, we’re not looking to change their food, just supplement as they start displaying signs of aging.
  2. It contains pure animal protein for lean muscles and strong bones
  3. Raw Boosters is full of only natural ingredients. Seriously, check out the label. This includes nutritious oils for healthy skin and coat. Perfect for Karlton.

Since this is our first experience feeding any kind of raw food, you know I had to do some research. Apparently, raw food can aide in proper digestion and help maintain energy & vitality, especially as our pups age. Learn something new every day.

So, off we went to PetSmart to grab a bag! Karlton’s favorite thing in the world is a car ride so he came with us. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that PetSmart carries Instinct Raw Boost Mixers bags in four flavors and three sizes. There’s even a 1oz trial size for $1.99 that’s perfect for a puppy taste test. We got a big bag so we can feed it to all four of our dogs.
